Lance James Shieldnight

Lance James Shieldnight, age 50, resident of Coweta, Oklahoma departed this life on Saturday, February 5, 2022.  Lance was born on February 13, 1971 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was the son of Michael Lee and Connie R. (Kerr) Shieldnight.  Lance attended Broken Arrow High School where he was a 1990 graduate.  He also attended Tulsa Vo-Tech.  Lance owned and operated Koweta Sod Company and LJS Pilot Escorting.  He also worked for Sod Connections and was an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff for Wagoner County.  He enjoyed crappie fishing, fish fries, and he was a good cook.

Lance is survived by his wife, Cheryl Shieldnight of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; his parents, Mike and Connie Shieldnight of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two children, Clay Shieldnight of Coweta, Oklahoma and Hunter Truitt and her husband, Allan of Bristow, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Ivy Truitt, Oaklyn Sutton, Easton Chalakee, Jett Chalakee, Allyson McGlothen, Keith McGlothen, and Brodie Chalakee; three siblings, Mark Shieldnight and his wife Carrie of Prague, Oklahoma, Kurt Shieldnight of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Shonda Jacofsky and her husband Scott of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two step-children, Taylor Chalakee of Coweta, Oklahoma and Doug Chalakee of Coweta, Oklahoma; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Lance was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dennis and Anna Kerr and his paternal grandparents, Lee and Betty Shieldnight.

A memorial service celebrating Lance’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Cedar Ridge Christian Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor Tim Dotson officiating.
