Kent Shieldnight

Graveside services celebrating the life of Kent Shieldnight will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta with Pastor Nick Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Viewing will be from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Brown Family Funeral Home with the family present to receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Kent Shieldnight, age 84, lifelong Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta, OK. Kent was born on March 26, 1934 in Coweta, OK to Alfred P. and Corda (Werner) Shieldnight. He received his education in Coweta Public Schools. Kent married the love of his life, Doris Jean (Yocham) Shieldnight on January 16, 1953 in Coweta, OK. He worked as a machinist at Central Specialties Manufacturing Company in Tulsa for 40 years. Kent also owned and operated S&S Specialties for many years until he retired in 1998. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching basketball on TV. Kent is survived by 2 sons, Kenneth Ray Shieldnight and wife, Royce of Fairfax, OK and Rex Allen Shieldnight and wife, Candy of Coweta, OK; 9 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Kent was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Shieldnight, his second wife, Karen Shieldnight, his parents, Alfred and Corda Shieldnight, 1 son, Perry Shieldnight, 3 brothers, Edward Shieldnight, Lee Shieldnight and Joe Shieldnight and 1 sister, Jean Wasson.
