Ken Corley

Ken Corley, age 78, of Coweta departed this life on Saturday afternoon, May 2, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his loving family members. He was born on June 30, 1930 in Stranton, AR to John Russell and Blanche (Cravens) Corley. Ken was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family. He graduated from high school in Stranton, AR. Ken enlisted in the United States Navy on September 7, 1950 and was honorably discharged on July 2, 1954. He and Jo Ellen Thompson were united in marriage on October 23, 1954 in Coweta, OK. In 1954, Ken moved to the Coweta area from Arkansas. He worked as a transportation director for Coweta Public Schools for 15 years until his retirement in 1990. Ken was a member of the American Legion, American Britney Club, past President and Director of the Indian Nation Britney Club, and he was involved in numerous other dog activities. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, dogs, and he enjoyed sports. Ken will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Ken was preceded in death by his parents. Ken is lovingly survived by his wife of 54 years, Jo Ellen of the home; three sons, Kenneth Corley of Coweta, OK, Keith Corley and his wife, Debbie, of Porter, OK, and Kevin Corley of Coweta, OK; one daughter, Kaye Corley of Tulsa, OK; three brothers, Bruce Corley and his wife, Linda, of Fort Worth, TX, Larry Corley and his wife, Carol, of Fort Gibson, OK, and Bill Corley and his wife, Donna, of Conroe, TX; two sisters, Charlotte Weir and her husband, Bob, of Claremore, OK and Sharon Wallace and her husband, Larry, of Mannford, OK; four grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home. The Rev. Ed Rutherford will officiate the service.
