Kathryn Ellen Hewitt, affectionately known as Kathy, age 64, resident of Coweta, OK, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the Leisure Village Health Care Center in Tulsa, OK. She was born on August 30, 1960, in Jackson, MS, to Gerald and Carolyn (Brown) Fessler. Kathy lived a life dedicated to education, family, and her faith.
After graduating from Broken Arrow High School in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Kathy furthered her education at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in elementary education. Kathy dedicated 20 years of her career to Coweta Public Schools, where she served as a 4th-grade teacher until her retirement in 2020. She was deeply passionate about nurturing young minds and instilling a love of learning in her students.
A devoted member of First Baptist Church in Wagoner, Kathy's faith was an essential part of her life She enthusiastically taught Sunday school, led grief classes, participated in small groups, and contributed to the church’s building committee. Her love for teaching extended beyond the classroom, as she passionately shared her faith and wisdom with others.
On March 21, 1981, Kathy married the love of her life, Louis C. Hewitt, in Tulsa, OK. Their union was a beautiful partnership that was marked by love and devotion. Though they spent many cherished years together, Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. Hewitt, and her father, Gerald Fessler.
Kathy's life was rich with love and joy, particularly in her cherished role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Leigh Fisher and husband Brandon of Coweta, OK; her son, Kodey Charles Hewitt of Coweta, OK; her mother, Carolyn Fessler of Tulsa, OK; and her three adored grandchildren, Conner, Gabriel, and Amos Fisher. Kathy's legacy also lives on through her siblings, Karen Graham of Tulsa, OK, Kevin Fessler and wife Jackie of Wagoner, OK, and Kerry Fessler and wife Monica of Wagoner, OK, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will forever cherish her memory.
Kathy's legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of those she touched throughout her life. A compassionate educator, devoted mother and grandmother, and a cherished member of her community, she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation for Kathy will be held from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Services celebrating Kathy's life will take place at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Wagoner, OK, with Rev. Mark Pointer officiating. Following the service, a private family interment will be held at Bailey Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK.
