Katherine Louise Peterson, affectionately known as Kathy to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Clarehouse in Tulsa, OK. She was born on March 7, 1948, in Coweta, OK to Jay Potter, Sr. and Lurline (Hester) Potter. Kathy's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and beauty, woven through the years with the joy of her family.
Kathy's journey began in Coweta, where she attended Coweta Public Schools. Her passion for beauty and creativity led her to the Broken Arrow Beauty School, where she honed her skills and embarked on a fulfilling career as a beautician. For over 40 years, Kathy brought joy and confidence to countless individuals, enhancing their lives with her talent and warm spirit.
On October 10, 1978, Kathy married the love of her life, Jerry Wayne Peterson in Miami, OK. Their union was blessed with love, laughter, and the shared joy of raising a family. Kathy's heart was always full when surrounded by her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Peterson of the home in Broken Arrow, OK; her son, Keith Brians of Coweta, OK; her daughter, Kayce Brians-Davis and her husband JJ of Coweta, OK; her cherished grandchildren, Katelynn Brians, Aubree Cherry, Ryan Egger, Alyssa Davis, Khloe Davis, and Camden Davis; her adored great-grandchildren, Lucy Egger and Jordan Egger; and her brothers, Jay Potter and wife Phyllis, Raymond Potter and wife Barbara, and Terry Potter and wife Joyce, all of Coweta, OK. Her life was further enriched by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives who will continue to honor her memory.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jay Potter, Sr. and Lurline Potter, her brother, Oren Potter, Sr., her sisters, Betty Denton, Margaret Woodward, and Darlene Wilson, and her twin daughters, Kimberly Dawn Brians and Kerri Lynn Brians.
Kathy's zest for life was evident in her many interests and hobbies. She found joy in the simple pleasures of fishing, playing marbles, cards, and board games with her family. Camping trips, tending to her garden, and cheering on her kids and grandkids at sporting events were moments she treasured deeply. Kathy's love for music and dancing was infectious, and her laughter could light up a room. Her favorite sayings, "Jerry" and "Believe You Me," will echo in the hearts of those who knew her best.
Kathy's life was a beautiful reflection of the love she gave and the joy she brought to everyone around her. Her legacy of kindness, beauty, and unwavering love for her family will continue to inspire and guide us all. Though she will be dearly missed, her spirit will remain a guiding light in the lives of those she touched.
Visitation for Kathy will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK. Services celebrating Kathy's life will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, OK, with Pastor Matt Rowell officiating. Kathy will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
