Junior T. Martin, age 87, longtime Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma surrounded by his family. Junior was born on December 7, 1934 in Proctor, Oklahoma to Theodore Boss and Billie Mitchell (Vaughn) Martin. He received his education in the Proctor and Westville schools. Junior was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1954 to 1956. While in the Army, he guarded the Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska where he was stationed. He married the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Gail Williams on May 13, 1969 in Miami, Oklahoma. Junior worked as a supervisor at Knight Industries and owned and operated Junior Martin Trucking for many years until he retired. He also served on the Wagoner County Rural Water District No. 5 Board for 26 years. Junior was a member of the Coweta Assembly. He truly loved fishing and spent many hours catching crappie. Junior also enjoyed hunting, playing music, camping, sitting on the porch enjoying the outdoors, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Junior is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandy Martin of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; six children, Dale Martin and his wife Patty of Coweta, Oklahoma, Ricky Martin of Coweta, Oklahoma, Anita Martin of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Tina Goodlett and her husband Craig of Bentonville, Arkansas, Shelly Hollingshed and her husband David of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Jeffrey Martin and his wife Katie of Coweta, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Martin, Jason Warford, Brandon Hollingshed, Adam Martin, Brianna Martin, Kaleb Hollingshed, Emily Hollingshed, and Landon Martin; one great granddaughter, Isabella Hollingshed; three brothers, Bill Martin of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Ted Martin and his wife Jerry of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Jack Martin of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; one sister, Rita Morris of Moody, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Boss and Billie Mitchell Martin, his sister, Betty Barnett, and his grandson, Brandon Martin.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma with the family present to receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Services celebrating Junior’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the Coweta Assembly in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor Steve Lee officiating. Junior will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
