Joyce Lee Copeland

Joyce Lee Copeland, age 83, long-time resident of Coweta, OK passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, April 4, 2014 at CedarCrest Care Center in Broken Arrow, OK. Joyce was born on January 1, 1931 in Oneta, OK and was the daughter of Arvil and Velda (Reynolds) Baucom. She and Alvin Copeland were married on December 10, 1947 in Coweta, OK. Joyce and Alvin owned and operated 3 service stations for many years. She also worked at Hilti in Tulsa, OK for 12 years until she retired in 1991. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her husband of 66 years, Alvin Copeland of the home in Coweta, OK; 2 daughters, Patsy Holmes-Milliger & husband, Larry, of Broken Arrow, OK and Cathy Bristol & husband, Larry, of Coweta, OK; 1 son, Wayne Copeland & wife, Kim, of Bixby, OK; 2 sisters, Judy King of Strang, OK and Donna Meeks of Coweta, OK; 7 grandchildren, Kim Urrutia, Jeff Holmes, Julie Spohn, Devin Bristol, Amie Bristol, Mandy Miller and Chelsea Copeland; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a special nephew, Steven Stephens; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Arvil & Velda Baucom, 4 brothers, Harlen Baucom, Bobby Baucom, Jerry Baucom and Billy Baucom, 2 sisters, Dorothy Dennis and Nina Thomas and 1 son-in-law, Alan Holmes. Funeral services for Joyce are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Chaplain Randy Shaddox officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Kevin Miller, Johnny Thomasson, Jeff Holmes, Mike Baucom, Devin Bristol and Dakota Bristol.
