Joseph Glen Hanes, 78 year old Broken Arrow resident, passed away Tuesday evening, July 15, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Joseph was born on July 11, 1936 in Guymon, OK to Paul and Verda (Morris) Hanes. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1954 to 1958. He received an Associate's Degree from Oklahoma State University in Accounting. In 1976, Joseph and Vera Jo Hanes were united in marriage. Joseph was a self-employed General Contractor in Construction for many years. He also worked as a Purchaser for Braden Winch in Broken Arrow, OK for over 10 years. Joseph enjoyed collecting baseball cards, Nascar races, fishing and sports. Joseph is survived by 5 children, Tammy McMahan & husband, Marty, of Tulsa, OK, Paul Hanes of Vinita, OK, Vickie Garza & husband, Ramon, of Broken Arrow, OK, Gregg Garrett & wife, Leslie, of Broken Arrow, OK and Vonda Rempe & husband, Dan, of Piedmont, OK; 1 brother, Jerry Hanes & wife, Bernice, of Vinita, OK; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service celebrating Joseph's life will be 1:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2014 at Common Ground Church, 7810 E. 49th Street, Tulsa, OK. Pastor Tom Dillingham will officiate the service. A private interment will be held at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, OK.
