Joseph Burt

Joseph Francis Bryant Burt, age 86, former resident of Coweta, OK passed away Tuesday morning, July 23, 2013 at Sherwood Manor Nursing Home in Tulsa, OK. Joseph was born on August 3, 1926 in Coweta, OK and was the son of Hershell and Dee (Smith) Burt. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Joseph enlisted in the Marine Corps on October 28, 1947 and was honorably discharged on April 2, 1949. Joseph was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. Joseph is survived by his children, Billy Burt of Skiatook, OK, Jimmy Burt of Calif., Bobby Burt of Calif., Francis of Calif. and Dorothy of Calif.; his sisters and brothers, Ruby Mitchell of Inola, OK, Jane Young of Coweta, OK, Marie Dunlap of Coweta, OK, Kathy Woods of Wichita, KS, Lee Burt of Broken Arrow, OK and Everett Burt of Miami, OK; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Lou (Mcarty) Burt, his parents, two sons, one sister and one brother. A graveside service with full military honors is scheduled for 12:00 pm Friday, July 26, 2013 at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, OK with Chaplain Randy Shaddox and Matt Crain officiating.
