Broken Arrow

Jonna Jo Strain, a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 16, 2023, at Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was born on September 1, 1963, in Broken Arrow, OK. Jonna's life was marked by an unwavering love for her family, a passion for nurturing beauty in her surroundings, and a dedication to her work that touched countless lives.

Jonna is survived by her husband, Richey Strain, whom she married on July 23, 2022, and who was the love of her life. She is also survived by her children, Blake Baucom, Ryan Strain, and Madison Strain; her siblings, Michael Foster and wife Gay, Emily Richards and husband John, Brock Foster and wife Shelley, and Preston Foster; several grandchildren; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Charlotte House; her sister-in-law, Rhonda Musick and husband Bill; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jonna was preceded in death by her loving mother, Vesta Ruth Rutherford, her father, Johnny Edward Foster, and her grandparents, Finis and Emma Watkins and Clifford and Mae Foster.

A 1981 graduate of Coweta High School in Coweta, OK, Jonna went on to serve as a building engineer at Union Public Schools for over 25 years. Her work was not just a job, but a calling, as she touched thousands of young students’ lives with love and lasting affection.

Jonna's interests were as varied as they were passionate. She loved hummingbirds and cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Jonna's love for gardening showed as displayed with her prized Hearty Hibiscus and 4 large flower beds full of many kinds of beautiful flowers that her grandma taught her how to grow. She had a special talent for artsy projects with a closet full of art supplies, always painting and working on items like birdhouses and pottery. Her Christmas wrapping every year was done with care and compassion spending about an hour on each gift until it was a fine work of art. Family was amazed at how pretty their gifts were.

Jonna's love for her family and friends was profound and unwavering. Her smile could light up a room, and her love and care touched everyone she knew. Her lifelong best friends all worked together with her and formed bonds that could not be broken. Her calm and collected demeanor was viewed by others as guidance during times of struggle. Jonna was always lending an ear and a smile to help others. She will dearly be missed by all that she knew and loved, and she did love with a passion that only few could accomplish. We will miss you dearly my sweet Angel and our hearts will always have a void in them from now on. We will meet again and hope that you and your dear mother are rejoicing and catching up. We love you so much Jonna.

God, please help all of us through this tragic time and heal all of our souls and wounds.
