Johnny Lee Goree

Johnny L. Goree was born on June 20, 1947 in Haskell, Oklahoma to Leon and Dora Mae (Jumper) Goree.  Mr. Goree went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 24, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 72.

Johnny was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Haskell, Oklahoma and later joined Mount Rose Baptist Church in Coweta.  He attended Mount Rose Baptist Church until his health began to fail.  Johnny attended Booker T. Washington in Haskell where he played his favorite sport basketball.  He was an avid horseback rider and domino and card player.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Leon Goree, Sr., mother, Dora Mae (Jumper) Goree, son, Jeffrey Goree, brothers, Leon Goree, Jr., David L. Goree, and Billy G. Goree, and grandson, Jacob Daniel Barnes.

He leaves to celebrate his homegoing, his wife, Geneva Goree; his children, Stacy Goree (Tamica), Evangelist Sharnetta Barnes-Dixson, William Goree, Casey Goree, and Sharonda Goree; his step-children, Ricky and Janae; his brothers and sisters, Mayetta Frederick (Victor), Floretta Bowman, Funtella Mayfield, Clarice Donaldson, Sharon Server (Melvin), Robert Goree, and Chester L. Goree; special family members, Vohn Barnes (Beverly), Winston Barnes (Anette), Columbus Barnes, Vernon Barnes, Curtis Barnes, Gloria Barnes, LeLa Barnes-Fulson (Roy), and Willie Barnes-Peoples (Lee); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  The celebration of Johnny’s life will be on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.  The service will be streamed live at https://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/2856 0.  Mr. Goree will be laid to rest at Jackson Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
