Johnny Ray Dobbins, age 78, lifelong resident of Coweta departed this life on Tuesday afternoon, April 12, 2022 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Johnny was born on April 2, 1944 in Coweta, Oklahoma to John Kates and Clara May (Cochran) Dobbins. He was a 1962 graduate of Coweta High School. Johnny was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He enlisted in the Army on June 2, 1965 and was honorably discharged on June 1, 1967. Johnny married Jolene Carner on July 20, 1971 in Miami, Oklahoma. He worked at Tulsa County Parks Department where he retired after 30 years as Parks Maintenance Supervisor. Johnny was a member of the Broken Arrow Elks Lodge #2673 for 22 years where he was a Great Pretender. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 308 in Tulsa, Oklahoma for 30 years. Johnny enjoyed golfing and was an avid sports fan for Coweta. He also enjoyed helping coach his daughter’s various sports; basketball, softball, and soccer. Johnny loved spending time with his family, especially with his granddaughters.
Johnny is survived by his daughter, Janna Rae Dobbins and her husband Jason Perryman of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; his sister, Frances Friend of Missouri; his three granddaughters, Jade Perryman, Jalee Perryman, and Jaycie Perryman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Jolene Dobbins, his parents, John and Clara Dobbins, his daughter, Dana Carner, his sister, Sylvia Ginger Curlee, his brother, Robert Dobbins, and his great grandson, Joseph Thomas “JT” Shaw.
Visitation will be from 12:00-7:00 PM on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma with the family present from 5:00-7:00 PM. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma. A celebration of Johnny’s life will follow at 3:00 PM at the Broken Arrow Elks Lodge #2673 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
