John R. Meadows

Services celebrating the life of John R. Meadows will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Church of Christ in Coweta, OK. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Viewing will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Brown Family Funeral Home. John R. Meadows, age 83, lifelong Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 1, 2018 at his home in Coweta, OK. John was born on January 30, 1935 in Coweta, OK and was the son of Virgil Matthew and Callie Thelma (Rhodes) Meadows. He was a 1953 graduate of Coweta High School. After graduating high school, John attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College where he received his Associate's Degree in Agriculture. He married the love of his life, Lois I. (Hensley) Meadows on June 16, 1956 in Coweta, OK and together they had two children, Kirby and Robin. John has worked at Smithco Engineering Inc. in Tulsa, OK for 32 years, Tool Center, Inc. in Tulsa, OK and was currently working at Equipment Group Investments in Houston, TX since 2001. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Coweta where he served as an elder for many years. John was President of the Coweta School Board in 1977 for four years and was able to present his daughter, Robin her high school diploma. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, shooting guns, coaching little league baseball and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed working around the farm and he loved his tractor. John is survived by 1 son, Kirby Meadows and wife, Robin of Broken Arrow, OK; 1 daughter, Robin Weisberg and husband, David of Coweta, OK; 1 brother, Alden Meadows and wife, Loretta of Coweta, OK; 6 grandchildren, Robert Brandon Meadows and wife, Heather, Nickole Elaine Barr and husband, Brandon, John Michael Morrow, Jason Heath Morrow, Tiffany Weisberg and Stephanie Weisberg; 12 great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jaron, Caden, Gavin, Charles, Edwin, Penelope, Myka, Faith, Hayli, Melani and Paizlei; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Meadows in 2015, his parents, Virgil Matthew and Callie Thelma Meadows, 1 sister, Velma Moss and 1 brother, Vaughan Meadows.
