John Dowd

John L. Dowd, age 79, of Coweta passed from this life on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. John was born on June 16, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Roy E. and Georgia I. (Romine) Dowd. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1946. In 1964, John and Geraldine Claunts were united in marriage in Kansas, Oklahoma. He and Geraldine moved to Coweta in 1986 from Muskogee. John worked at Ford Glass Plant for 25 years until his retirement in 1999. He was a 32nd degree mason. His hobby included hunting. Left behind to cherish his memories is his wife, Geraldine of the home; one daughter, Lenore Hoffman and her husband, Mark, of Broken Arrow; one sister, Elisabeth "Betty" Morgan of Tulsa; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ellen, one son, John Roy Dowd, and one brother. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at the Vernon Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. David Jones officiating.
