Joe Scales

Joe T. Scales, age 93, long-time resident of Coweta passed away on Saturday morning, June 25, 2011 at his home in Coweta, OK. He was born on April 24, 1918 in Coweta, OK to Allen and Lidia (Edwards) Scales. A proud veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army. Joe enlisted in the Army on July 1, 1941 and was honorably discharged on December 16, 1945. He worked as realty specialist for the Federal Government for 38 years until he retired in 1980. In 1996, Joe and Chun Hi were married in Tulsa, OK. He was a member of the Coweta American Legion Post #226. Joe is lovingly survived by his wife, Chun Hi Scales of the home; one son, Darrel Scales of California; one brother, Luther Scales of Muskogee, OK; and other relatives. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. Viewing will be held on Monday evening, June 27, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A graveside service with full military honors for Joe will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Washington Cemetery in Coweta, OK with Tommy Harris officiating.
