Jodi Walker

Jodi Gayle (Bates) Walker, age 58, of Broken Arrow passed from this life on Monday, June 15, 2009 at Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa. She was born on October 7, 1950 in Broken Arrow to John Willis and Estel (Keel) Bates. Jodi was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother to her family. She received her education in the Broken Arrow school system and graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1968. She also attended Tulsa Nursing Academy. Jodi worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for St. John Medical Center in Tulsa for 14 years. She also worked as a private nurse for 15 years. Jodi and Tommy Walker were united in marriage on February 20, 1984 in Broken Arrow, OK. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. Her hobbies included cooking, traveling, and collectibles. Jodi was preceded in death by her father and one daughter, Brandi. Jodi is lovingly survived by her husband, Tommy, of the home; her two sons, Shaun Walker and Steven Walker, both of Woodward, OK; her two daughters, Robin Smith and Sara Walker, both of Broken Arrow, OK; her mother, Estel Bates, of Broken Arrow, OK; her brother, Mark Bates and his wife, Robbin, of Coweta, OK; her sister, Marji Cowles of Broken Arrow, OK; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Sunnyside Baptist Church with Rev. Roland Whitehurst officiating and Rev. Robbie Evans assisting.
