Jimmy Arthur "Jim" Mckaughan

April 27, 1940 — February 16, 2021

Sand Springs

James Arthur “Jim” McKaughan was born to Howard Raymond McKaughan and Lena May (Berry) McKaughan on April 27, 1940. Jim went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, February 16, 2021 in Coweta, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years. Jim grew up on a cattle and dairy farm northwest of Stillwater, Oklahoma where he learned compassion and care taking from his mother, and generosity and hard work from his father. These are traits he cherished throughout his life.

He graduated from Quay High School in 1958. He was a star center in basketball where he won many awards. Jim excelled at everything he attempted to undertake in life. He was a perfectionist at his job, which included being a draftsman and an engineer for Lee C. Moore Drilling Company.

Jim was a gentle person with a profound love and dedication to his two sons, Cary Jim and Randy McKaughan. He had patience combined with a dry wit that could quickly elicit a smile or a laugh. He had a quiet wisdom and a kind approach in dealing with other problems. His love for God was evident in how he loved his family and friends. He loved Pastor Mark and his Keystone Hills Church family in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Because of God’s love in in his life, he will live in our hearts of those that knew and loved him. He was a blessing to everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, June McKaughan of Coweta, Oklahoma; his son, Cary Jim McKaughan and wife Tracy of Tiawah, Oklahoma; his step-daughter, Lorri Goodnight (she was Jim’s angel caring for him and loving him) and husband Jeff Goodnight of Coweta, Oklahoma; his step-son, Jerry Clausing and wife Joanna of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his brother, Harold McKaughan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his sister, Flossie Focht of Perkins, Oklahoma; his grandson, Garret McKaughan of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; his granddaughter, Katy Depew and husband Scott of Verdigris, Oklahoma; his step-granddaughters, Katie Goodnight and husband Derek of Coweta, Oklahoma and April Rupe and husband Eli of Coweta, Oklahoma; his step-grandsons, Kenny Sams of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and D.J. Sams of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; two great grandsons, Kyson Lane Depew and Easton Scott Depew; two step-great granddaughters, McKinly Marie Rupe and Darci Jo Rupe; and numerous other relatives, and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Howard Raymond McKaughan and Lena May (Berry) McKaughan; three brothers, Clifford, Ival, and Gib; and one son, Randall Dean McKaughan.
