Jimmy Ray "Jim" Dever

Jimmy Ray "Jim" Dever, age 72, resident of Coweta passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, February 23, 2019 at his home in Coweta, OK. Jim was born on March 23, 1946 in Muskogee, OK and was the son of Sam and Irene (Graves) Dever. He received his education in Muskogee schools. Jim married the love of his life, Florence Lorene (Rice) Dever on May 1, 1967 in Stigler, OK. He worked as a salesman at Anderson Wholesale in Muskogee for over 30 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, rabbit hunting and he was a huge OU football fan. Jim is survived by one son, Dwayne Dever of Chelsea, OK; two daughters, Julie Hamblin and husband, Dan of Skiatook, OK and Terri Crites and husband, Barry of Coweta, OK; three brothers, Glen Dever of Haskell, OK, Darrell Dever of Muskogee, OK and Steve Dever of Jay, OK; two sisters, Sharon Salyer of Fort Gibson, OK and Carol Farmer and husband, Gary of Muskogee, OK; six grandchildren, Travis Dever and wife, Courtney, Kristen Dever, Kayla Turner, Brooklyn Turner, Jessica Crites and Clinton Crites; one great granddaughter, Ava Dever; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Lorene Dever; his parents, Sam and Irene Dever; three brothers, Don Smith, Jerry Dever and Sammy Dever; and one sister, Shirley Lusty. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019. Services celebrating Jim's life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Chaplain Roy Betz officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Travis Dever, Barry Crites, Marvin Rice, Stan Smith, Steve Dever and Clinton Crites.
