Jimmie Dawn Wheat was born on May 24, 1977, in Tulsa, OK to Gwyn (Pete) Gainer. She left this life on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 46. She was known as "Sissy" to all who loved her.

She was raised in the Broken Arrow and Coweta area, attending Coweta Public Schools and graduated from Coweta High in 1996. She then attended college in Warner and Tahlequah graduating in 1999 and began her passion of teaching, first in Tulsa and then in Broken Arrow Public Schools for a total of 23 years. Sissy was very competitive from showing horses, cows and sheep to public speaking to winning the family Christmas games. Everyone that knew her, knew her to be spunky, funny, and caring. She liked to dance, loved music, and was known to be fashion forward. Some of her many talents included drawing beautiful drawings, growing flowers with a green thumb and cooking gourmet meals and reading for hours on end. There was nothing she could not accomplish. Central to her life was her family. On November 13, 1999, she married Michael DeWayne Wheat in Wagoner, OK.

Jimmie is survived by her husband, Michael DeWayne Wheat, her son, Bryan Edwards and wife Kirsten, her mother, Pete Gainer-Young and husband James, her granddaughter, Scarlett May Edwards, her brothers, Ty Gainer, Dally Gainer and wife Sage, and Josh Lewis, her sisters, Lacy Weber and Cheyenne Lewis- Golden, her niece, Gabriella V. Gainer, and nephew, Pendleton M. Gainer.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Justin Gainer Lewis, her grandparents, Bob and D Gainer, and her uncle, Bud Gainer.

Services celebrating Sissy's life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK. Sissy will be laid to rest at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK. Honorary Pallbearers are Butch King, Jason Snelson, Jeff Massey, Jeff Hogue, Paul Lewis, and Dale McClendon.

In lieu of flowers, donations of school supplies may be made in memory of Sissy to Oneta Ridge Middle School in Broken Arrow, OK. Please send donations to Brown Funeral Home, 210 S. Broadway, Coweta, OK 74429.
