Jim Hughes

James "Jim" A. Hughes, age 91, of Coweta, OK passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 in Tomball, TX. Jim was born on April 28, 1922 in Coweta, OK. He was the son of Oscar C. and Ruth May (Bryan) Hughes. Jim attended school in Coweta, OK. Jim and Vergie Hall were married on June 28, 1942 in Coweta, OK and she preceded him in death on July 21, 2003. They were married for 61 years. Jim worked in the maintenance department for C.E. Invalco for 30 years. He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Coweta, OK. Jim enjoyed gardening, fishing, and doing yard work. He will be truly missed by his loved ones. Jim is survived by his three sons, Ronald S. Hughes and his wife, Joy of Owasso, OK, Brent Hughes and his wife, Kay of The Woodlands, TX, and Mark W. Hughes and his wife, Jeri of The Woodlands, TX; his four brothers, Paul Hughes of Broken Arrow, OK, Kenneth Hughes, Bryan Hughes, and Dennis Hughes all of Coweta, OK; his sister, Barbara Hobbs of Coweta, OK; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vergie, three children, and sister, Ophelia Swartwood. Funeral services for Jim are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Coweta, OK. Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery.
