Jerry Wayne Edmiston, age 67, resident of Coweta, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was born on April 17, 1957, in Fayetteville, AR to Alvin G. and Juanita (Wood) Edmiston. Jerry's life was a testament to the love and joy he brought to those around him.
Jerry attended school in Wagoner and graduated from Wagoner High School in 1975. His early education laid the foundation for a successful career. Jerry dedicated 20 years of his life to McDonnell Douglas, which later became Boeing, before taking on the role of Manager at GatorHyde of Wagoner, where he has worked for 22 years. His work ethic and leadership were admired by his colleagues and friends.
On September 15, 1978, Jerry married the love of his life, Judith "Judy" Zachary, in Van Buren, AR. Their union was blessed with two children, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Jerry's role as a family man was his most treasured accomplishment, and he embraced every moment with his loved ones.
Jerry's passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for hunting and fishing. He found solace in nature and enjoyed sharing this love with his family and friends. His cookouts were legendary, with his skill in smoking meat and grilling being a highlight of many family gatherings. Jerry's joy was multiplied when he spent time with his grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy Edmiston, of their home in Coweta, OK; his son, Brad Edmiston and wife Janelle of Coweta, OK; his daughter, Whitney Carr and husband Brandon of Glenpool, OK; and his five grandchildren, Kenzie Carr, Conner Edmiston, Hunter Carr, Zack Edmiston, and Bentley Carr. Jerry also leaves behind his siblings, Sandy Emmons and husband Orlin of Wagoner, OK, Vicki Keating and husband Brian of Plainfield, NH, and John Edmiston and wife Jessica of Coweta, OK. His life was enriched by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Juanita Edmiston, and his sister, Debbie Edmiston.
Jerry's life was a beautiful journey that touched the hearts of many. His spirit will continue to live on through the memories he created and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK. A private family service will celebrate his life and legacy. Jerry's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have supported them during this time.
