Jefferson William "Dub" Slape, age 90, longtime Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. Dub was born on February 7, 1929 in Kemp, OK and was the son of Charlie Floyd and Lola (Flatt) Slape. He was a 1942 graduate of Fort Gibson High School in Fort Gibson, OK. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving in Korea. He enlisted in the Navy on February 13, 1952 and was honorably discharged on February 12, 1960. He married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Reese on September 19, 1956 in Wagoner, OK. Dub worked at Tulsa Fruit Company as a salesman for 32 years. He also owned and operated Mary and Dub's Restaurant in Coweta. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Coweta, where he enjoyed serving the Lord. He will be missed as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Dub is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Slape of the home in Coweta, OK; one daughter, Anita McClary of Coweta, OK; one son, Ricky Medlin of Hulbert, OK; five grandchildren, Nicole Taber and husband Matt, Chief Medlin, Brad McClary, Travis Medlin and wife Jeannie, and Mallory Hill and husband Aaron; eight great grandchildren, Kali Tillery, Luke Tillery, Libby Collinson, Izzy Hill, Laci Sowers, Bradsyn McClary, Stacia Medlin, and Gabe Medlin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Dub was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Floyd and Lola Slape and his brother, Raymond Slape. Viewing will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Brown Family Funeral Home. Graveside services celebrating Dub's life will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK with Rev. Jim Woolsey officiating.
