Janice Faye Davis, age 81, resident of Coweta, OK, passed away peacefully at her home in Coweta, OK, on Friday, June 7, 2024. She was born on September 21, 1942, in Jackson County, Lee’s Summit, MO and was the daughter of Vernon Edward Gillette and Minnie Stella Adaline (Nunn) Gillette. Janice’s life was one that reflected her love and heart for Jesus and her family.

Professionally, Janice was known for her keen eye and warm personality as an Olan Mills photographer, a career that spanned 20 years in San Antonio, TX, and Blue Springs, MO. Her work not only captured the milestones of countless individuals and families but also reflected her genuine interest in the stories and lives of those she photographed.

Janice's journey through life was marked by her enduring love story with her husband, Ralph Davis. They were united in marriage on April 14, 1962, in Lee's Summit, MO, and together they built a life filled with joy, challenges, and precious moments until Ralph's passing just days before her own. Janice is survived by her children, Edward L. Davis and his wife Sandra of Coweta, OK and Susan L. Davis of Coweta, OK, and her twin sister, Frances Layton of Lexington, MO. Her legacy continues through her 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Edward and Minnie Stella Adaline Gillette, her husband, Ralph Lowell Davis, and her sister, Rheta Pace.

Janice's interests and talents were many, but her passion for singing was particularly noteworthy. With a beautiful voice, she was often heard singing at church and weddings, sharing her gift and touching the hearts of all who listened. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing comfort and strength throughout her years.

Janice's life was a beautiful melody of devotion, kindness, and resilience that will continue to resonate with her family and all who knew her. Her spirit, characterized by her love for Jesus and her family, will forever be a source of inspiration and comfort.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones for visitation with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK. A graveside service to honor and celebrate Janice’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery in Lee's Summit, MO.
