Janell Ann Ezell, age 76, resident of Broken Arrow went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, May 8, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Janell was born on September 9, 1944 in Wagoner, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Clarence and Beatrice (Fritsch) Higginbotham. She was a 1962 graduate of Coweta High School. Janell and Paul Ezell dated all through high school and on June 26, 1962 they were united in marriage. She went to work at the Courthouse in Wagoner just out of high school, and later became the County Assessor. Janell spent her whole working career there, 30 years. She was the President of the Assessors Association for several years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coweta. Janell loved to travel, going on cruises, and decorating, but above all, she loved being with her grandchildren.
Janell is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul Ezell; her son, Paul Ezell Jr. and wife Anne; her daughter, Kim Ivey and husband Kelly; her sister, Myrna Hammack and husband Jerry; her grandchildren, Gabriel Ivey, Nathaniel Ivey, and Sarah Ezell; her nephews, Jack Higginbotham and wife Kristi, Danny Taylor and wife Loren, and Jeff Taylor and girlfriend Cheri; her niece, Jennifer Heckert and husband Chris; and numerous other relatives, and friends.
Janell was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Beatrice Higginbotham and her brother, Jack Higginbotham.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Brown Family Funeral Home in Coweta. Services celebrating Janell’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Dr. Vern Charette officiating. Janell will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Michael Bryan, Bryan Burton, Chris Ezell, Danny Taylor, Gabe Ivey, and Nate Ivey.
