James "Rick" Ricky Hathcoat

James Ricky "Rick” Hathcoat, Muskogee resident, age 73, departed this life on Monday, July 29, 2024, in Tulsa, OK, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and family devotion. He was born in Wagoner, OK, on August 3, 1950, to Opal (Mangrum) and Herbert Hathcoat. Rick's journey was one of joy, dedication, and a zest for life's simple pleasures.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Ginger Chadic and her husband Allen of Tulsa, his son, Richard Hathcoat, and his cherished grandchildren, Dwyane Moss, William Chadic, and Lacie Chadic. He is also remembered by his brothers, Wesley Gene Hathcoat of Nowata, Joseph Edward “Butch” Hathcoat of Fort Gibson, and Jimmy Hathcoat, in addition to a host of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He joins in peace his late parents, Opal (Mangrum) and Herbert Hathcoat, his wives, Faye Hathcoat and Dearta McClure, his brother, Vick Hathcoat, and his sisters, Bobbie Lee Wiley, Norma Jean Hammonds, Elsie Clower, and Norma Faye Oakley.

A talented welder, Rick retired from ACS Steel in Tulsa, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and skilled craftsmanship. His love for his grandchildren and family was immeasurable, and he relished every moment spent with them. He especially enjoyed their outings, family meals, gatherings, and eating at buffets. Rick's passions included fishing in his younger days and traveling in his later years. He never lost the enjoyment for driving and going on road trips. He loved driving so much that sometimes would be found outside of a family member’s home or at the cemetery, napping in his car.

Those who knew Rick will always remember his warm, welcoming smile and the joy he brought to every room. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial service celebrating Rick’s life will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK, officiated by Brother Jack Smith and Wes Grayson.
