James Laurence "Larry" Vaughn, age 76, of Coweta passed away on Thursday morning, August 31, 2017 at Franciscan Villa in Broken Arrow, OK. Larry was born on January 8, 1941 to Glenn Mason Francis and Berenice Mary (McAllister) Vaughn in Utica, NY. He married the love of his life, Rita Mary Sears on December 19, 1969 in Waukegan, IL. Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Larry enlisted in the Navy in May 1958 and served over 19 years as a Boiler Technician until he retired in April 1978. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at Chevron Mobile for 2 years, Sunoco for 19 years and Adesa Auto Auction for 16 years. Larry enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading, attending AE Sailors Association reunions, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He and Rita were loved by their extended military family and friends and known for their great parties. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Mary Vaughn in 2008, his parents, Glenn Mason Francis and Berenice Mary Vaughn, 1 sister, Lee Anne Keating and 1 great grandson, Raphael Darnell. Larry is survived by 6 children, Jackie Quintero of Clovis, CA, Barbara Bridgman and husband, Jeff of Odessa, TX, Laurie Orcutt and husband, Troy of Tulsa, OK, Glenn Faris and wife, Tena of Kennard, TX, Kirk Davidson and wife, Jan of Haskell, OK and Jennifer Humphries of Coweta, OK; 1 brother, Glenn Jerome "Jerry" Vaughn and wife, Phyllis of Corpus Christi, TX; 14 grandchildren, John Corey Brown, Nina Bolin, DJ Mitchell, Josh Bridgman, Stephen Spear, Christopher Spear, Jason Spear, Kayleigh Faris, Josiah Faris, Rebecca Darnell, Joshua Mefford, Charity Hughes and Carina Humphries; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 4 nieces; 5 nephews; and other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 12-8 PM on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home. Services celebrating Larry's life will be at 12 PM on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Coweta Assembly of God in Coweta, OK with Rev. Glenn Faris officiating.
