J. B. Massey

J. B. Massey, Jr., age 84, of Coweta departed this life on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on December 12, 1924 in Cedarville, Arkansas to James B. and Nora P. (Tate) Massey. J. B. was a loving father, brother, and grandfather to his family. He received his education in Cedarville, Arkansas. J. B. enlisted in the United States Army on April 13, 1943 and was honorably discharged on November 12, 1945. He and L. Maude Deffenbaugh were united in marriage on April 27, 1946 in Susanville, California. J. B. was a maintenance painter at American Airlines for 18 years. He also worked at Spotnot Car Wash from 1985 to 2003. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. His hobbies included gardening and enjoying his pet yorkie. J. B. was preceded in death by parents, his wife, L. Maude, one brother, Raymond Spencer, and two sisters, Lula Fry and Eula Smith. J. B. is survived by one son, Steven Massey and his wife, Emily, of Coweta, Oklahoma; one daughter, Phyllis E. Wilson of Coweta, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. David Jones officiating.
