Irene Jones

Irene D. Jones, age 94, resident of Coweta passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 27, 2011 at Forest Hills Health Care Center in Broken Arrow, OK. She was born on November 18, 1916 in Coweta, OK to her parents, Juddie and Flora (Hendrix) Denton. Irene was raised in Coweta and attended Coweta Public Schools. On June 27, 1937, she and Buford Jones were married in Yuma, AZ and he preceded her in death. Irene owned and operated a dress shop for five years and she was a homemaker for most of her life. Irene was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed china painting, swimming and playing bridge. Irene is lovingly survived by her brother, Lee Roy Denton of Coweta and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Juddie and Flora Denton, her husband, Buford Jones, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services for Irene will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Jones officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Gary Douglas, Daniel Fultz, Ronnie Martin and James Victory. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Irene's nephews.
