Imogene B. Gilbert, age 80, of Coweta passed from this life on Thursday morning, April 17, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Imogene was born on April 19, 1927 in Moody, Oklahoma to Oscar and Ella (Holt) Battenfield. She received her education in the Porter, Oklahoma school system. Imogene and Edgar Gilbert were united in marriage on August 19, 1941 in Coweta, Oklahoma. Imogene was a homemaker for most of her life. Her hobbies included sewing, canning, gardening, cooking, and she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. Survivors include her husband, Edgar of the home; one son, Jerry Gilbert and his wife, Elvie, of Coweta, Oklahoma; one daughter, Bonnie Parkerson and her husband, Benny, of Coweta, Oklahoma; one sister, Dot Best of Enid, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Willie Gilbert officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
