Howard Eugene Hewitt

Howard Eugene Hewitt, age 72, life-long resident of Broken Arrow, OK passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, September 29, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Howard was born on January 6, 1941 in Broken Arrow, OK and was the son of Eugene and Mammie Pauline (Webb) Hewitt. He was a 1958 graduate of Broken Arrow High School. Howard was a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard. He and Myrtle Tyler were united in marriage on June 17, 1963 in Miami, OK. Howard worked as a self-employed Brick Mason for 57 years. He enjoyed fast pitch softball, hunting, fishing, farming and cooking. Howard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Myrtle Hewitt of the home in Broken Arrow, OK; one son, Terry Hewitt and wife, Amanda, of Broken Arrow, OK; three daughters, Cynthia Hewitt of Broken Arrow, OK, Jennifer Holden and husband, Michael, of Boise, ID and Angela Longmire and husband, Jason, of Tulsa, OK; two brothers, Jack Hewitt of Porter, OK and Norman Hewitt of Broken Arrow, OK; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, October 3, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services for Howard are scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, October 4, 2013 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Rev. John Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Jason Longmire, Jason Fisher, Jackie Hewitt, Jim Hewitt, Dusty Burke, Chris Billington, Christopher Backora and Doug Stack.
