Horace T. Johnson, age 75, of Coweta died peacefully on Thursday morning, August 21, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his son, Howard Johnson and his grandson, Chad Johnson. Horace was born on April 9, 1933 in Medicine Mounds, Texas to Henry T. and Lela (Williams) Johnson. He attended school in Earth, Texas until the 8th grade. He and Beverly Jean Dozier were united in marriage on November 2, 1951 in Odessa, Texas. He and Beverly were married 56 years until she preceded him in death on December 20, 2007. In 1980, they moved to Coweta, Oklahoma from Odessa, Texas. Horace worked as a patrolman at Texas Electric for 30 years until he retired in 1980. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge where he served as a Worshipful Master. Horace enjoyed gardening and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Left behind to cherish his memories are his three sons, Larry Johnson and his wife, Connie, of Frisco, Texas, Jimmy Johnson and his wife, Terri, of Maricopa, Arizona, and Howard Johnson of Coweta, Oklahoma; his sister, Nina Jo Dubina of Amarillo, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Johnson and Keith Johnson officiating. Committal prayers and burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home in Coweta.
