Homer Ervin Burk, age 81, of Coweta passed from this life on Monday, December 17, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital South in Tulsa, OK. Homer was born on March 22, 1926 in Pawnee, OK to Glenn and Finetta (Hamm) Burk. He received his education in the Pawnee school system and graduated from Pawnee High School. Homer joined the United States Navy on June 16, 1944 and was honorably discharged on June 5, 1946. He and Minnie Laurine Smith were united in marriage on September 22, 1946 in Pawnee, OK. Homer worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service for 20 years until his retirement in 1989. He also owned and operated Burk Home Improvement. His hobbies included fishing and hunting. Survivors include his son, Gregory Burk and his wife, Doris, of Coweta, OK; one brother, Ray Burk and his wife, Linda, of Sand Springs, OK; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson of South Coffeyville, OK and Joan Ashcraft and her husband, Ernest, of Tahlequah, OK; and five grandchildren, Brian Burk, Krisdee Power, Keith Burk, Hunter Austin, and Brianna Burk. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Kevin Burk, and one grandson, Kyle Burk. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Jones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
