Herbert Cassidy

Herbert Hoover Cassidy, age 84, long-time resident of Coweta, OK passed away peacefully, Wednesday afternoon, May 29, 2013 at Franciscan Villa Nursing Home in Broken Arrow, OK. Herb was born in Shell Creek, Osage County, OK at home on March 11, 1929 and was the son of Frank M. and Tabitha V. (Zickefoose) Cassidy. His sisters are: Maybelle Cassidy Gallup, also born at the Shell Creek home and Betty Cassidy Harris Cox born at the Cassidy home place. Herb graduated from Coweta High School in 1947. He was a farmer for most of his life. Herb also worked for the City of Broken Arrow, OK for 20 years until he retired in 1991. He was a long-time member of the Coweta Church of the Nazarene. In earlier years, he, June Pulliam and the late Otto Harris sang gospel songs at the Coweta Manor Nursing Home every Friday night. Herb loved old steam engines, old farm machinery and his blue Dodge pick-up. He loved talking to people, eating fried chicken, eating any kind of pie, listening to southern gospel music, reading and keeping up with the news. He also enjoyed watching westerns on TV. Herb was very dedicated to the Lord and his church. He loved his family, his faith and his friends. Herb is survived by 2 sisters, Maybelle Cassidy Gallup & husband, John, of Tulsa, OK and Betty Cassidy Harris Cox & husband, Bill, of Coweta, OK; 1 niece, Evelyn Louise Richmond of Tulsa, OK; 4 nephews, Fred Orville Gallup of Tulsa, OK, Douglas Frank Gallup of Tulsa, OK, Michael Todd Harris & wife, Yana, of Bixby, OK and Richard Scott Harris of Longmont, CO; 1 great niece, Lauren Ashley Harris of Louisville, KY; 2 great nephews, Logan Richmond of Tulsa, OK and Camden Alexandrew Harris of Pike Road, AL; 1 great great niece, Cali Rose Richmond of Tulsa, OK; and other relatives and friends. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank M. and Tabitha V. Cassidy. Funeral services for Herbert are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Point of Grace Church of the Nazarene in Coweta, OK with Rev. Gerald Burch officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Fred Gallup, Douglas Gallup, Michael Harris, Richard Harris, Randy Cox and Billy Cox.
