Helen M. Negley of Sand Springs passed away on Monday, May 7, 2007 at St. John Hospital in Sapulpa. She was 84 years old. Helen was born on August 16, 1922 in Alpena, Arkansas to Garrett and Ruth (McCracken) Boyd. She received her education in the Alpena school system and graduated from Alpena High School. In the 1940's, she and Doy Hammons were united in marriage in Alpena, Arkansas. He preceded her in death. She then married Charles Negley in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1984. Helen worked at Tyson Foods as a plant worker for ten years. She also worked at Sugar Shack Drive Inn and was a domestic worker. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Sand Springs and the Veterans Women's Auxiliary in Alpena, Arkansas. Her hobbies included fishing, sewing, gardening, reading, and cooking. Survivors include three nephews, Mike Badley, Tim Badley, and Arlis "Red" Badley and one niece, Kaye Lee. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son, Gary Hammons, and one sister, Leona Badley. Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2007 at Alpena Cemetery in Alpena, Arkansas with Reverend Mike Widner officiating. Interment will follow.
