Harris Harris

Jr. Harris, age 74, of Coweta, OK departed this life on Monday evening, August 24, 2009 at his son's residence in Broken Arrow, OK surrounded by his loving family members. He was born on September 1, 1934 in Broken Arrow, OK to Edgar and Bertha Ann (Medlock) Harris. Jr. was a loving and caring father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family. He graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1952. Jr. worked as a self-employed brick mason for 40 years until his retirement in 1998. He and Jewel Thomas were united in marriage on September 20, 1952 in Bentonville, AR and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2002. Jr. was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Coweta. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, horses, and he loved his grandchildren. Jr. will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Jr. is lovingly survived by one son, Robert Don Harris of Broken Arrow, OK; one daughter, Sandra Lynn Harris of Broken Arrow, OK; one sister, Wilma Jones of San Lorenzo, CA; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Jr. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, and two brothers. Funeral services for Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, OK with Rev. Ed Rutherford officiating. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Bob Hurst, Jack Hewitt, James Murray, Wesley Hopping, Tom Hensinger, and Benny Parkerson.
