Harold Griffin

Harold Dee Griffin, a resident of Broken Arrow, passed away Saturday evening, November 24, 2012 peacefully in his sleep at his home at the age of 83 years. Harold was born November 21, 1929 to William Melvin and Ina Florence (Sheppard) Griffin in Porum, Muskogee County, OK. Harold was the oldest of 5 siblings. Harold attended school in Porum, graduating in 1948. He then graduated from Okmulgee A&M Tech in 1954. Harold served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1953, earning the rank of Sergeant, he was stationed in Germany. He was very proud to serve his country. Harold worked for Invalco/Instruments, Inc. for 15 years, the Zemi Corporation and Southwest Control. In 1994, he retired from Badger Meter in Tulsa, OK. Harold married Geraldine Faye Addy on July 3, 1958 in Warner, OK. They were married for 54 years. Harold was a good family man and a hard worker. He always found time to attend most of his children's, grandchildren's and great grandchildren's sporting events. He coached his son's little league baseball teams. He also enjoyed spending hours repairing antique radios to like new condition, fishing, camping, RVing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and family. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, William Melvin Griffin and Ina Florence Sheppard, his twin brother, Carroll Melvin Griffin, his brothers, William Paul Griffin and Richard Perry Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charles B. Addy, his mother-in-law, Josie (Wickett) Addy, his brother-in-law's, Charles "Junior" Addy and W.C. "Dub" Overbey, Glen Gardner and his nephew, James "Shawn" Overbey. Harold is survived by his wife, Geraldine Faye (Addy) Griffin of the home; a daughter, Deena Lormer and husband, Richard, of Coweta, OK; a son, Gregory I. Griffin and wife, Brenda, of Broken Arrow, OK. Survivors also include 4 beloved grandchildren, Matthew Austin Lormer and wife, Melanie, of Coweta, OK, Andrea Brooke Lormer-Childress of Coweta, OK, Eric Lee Griffin and fiancé, Amanda Adams, of Broken Arrow, OK and Keeley Laynee' Griffin of Broken Arrow, OK; 5 great grandchildren, Aidan Shieldnight, Kameron Childress, Alixandria Lormer, Reid Lormer and Dylan Griffin; his sister, Joyce (Griffin) Reeder and husband, Bob, of Muskogee, OK; his brother, Philip A. Griffin and wife, Reba, of Houston, TX; and his sisters-in-law, Virginia Griffin, of Tulsa, OK, Dorothy Griffin, of Mustang, OK, Kaye Mayes, of Plano, TX, Betty Overbey-Gardner of Warner, OK and Mary Addy-Glover and husband, John, of Broken Arrow, OK. Survivors also include many nephews, nieces, and friends. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, November 27, 2012 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services for Harold are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Warner Memorial Cemetery in Warner, OK. Rev. Sam Dunn will be officiating the services in Warner. Pallbearers are Matthew Lormer, Eric Griffin, Randy Griffin, Jack Reeder, John Loyd and Pete Psomas. Honorary Pallbearers are Phillip Griffin, Bob Reeder, Richard Lormer, Wesley Griffin, Bill Gardner, Steve Lewis, Dr. Dewey Ballew, Harold Poplin, Sammy Clay, Stan Addy, Sherman Hyatt, and Jimmy Topping.
