Gordon Martin Okerstrom

May 14, 2012 Gordon Martin Okerstrom, Sr. passed from this life on May 6, 2012 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was born on December 2, 1932 in Detroit, MI to Gordon Peter and Celia (Brehm) Okerstrom. Gordon proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Federal Express where he had worked many years. However, his true calling was the ministry. Gordon was a "Soul Winner" and witnessed to all he came in contact with. He was a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center and Victory Bible Institute. He pastored churches in Philadelphia, PA and Cumberland, WI before settling in at Our Finest Hour Church in Coweta, OK. Gordon shared God's Word until the day he passed and is now walking the golden streets of Heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roger Okerstrom. Gordon is survived by his wife, Concetta A. (Ruggiero)
Okerstrom, whom he married on December 15, 1990 in Broken Arrow, OK. He is also survived by his children, Gordon M. Okerstrom, Jr. and wife Karen Sue, and Denise Carter and husband Gary; step-children, Lisa Ossman and husband Ken, and Tom Van Horne and wife Catherine; grandchildren, Clinton James Okerstrom, Timmothy Andrew Okerstrom, Joshua Daniel Okerstrom, Corey James Carter, Gillian Elaine Carter, Hiliary Christine Ossman, Alison Nicole Ossman, Benjamin Kenneth Ossman, Brier Paige Van Horne, Brooke Alynna Van Horne and Bailey Elise Van Horne; twin sister, Gloria Hicks and husband Bill; niece, Jacki Mills and husband Larry; and numerous other family members, friends and his church family. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Kennedy-Kennard Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, OK. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Our Finest Hour Church in Coweta, OK with Pastor Jerry Zirkle officiating. A graveside service with Military Honors will follow at 2 PM at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK. www.kennedycares.com
