Gloria Joyce Gibson

Gloria Joyce Gibson, age 81, resident of Coweta went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 23, 2018 at her home in Coweta, OK. Joyce was born on May 14, 1936 to Collins Albert "Slim" and Bertha (Parks) Williams in Wheeler, TX. She attended school in Okmulgee and she was proud to get her GED in 1997. Joyce married Ronald Jack Gibson on December 27, 1974 in Bixby, OK. She worked as a florist for many years where she worked at The Blossom Shop in Okmulgee, OK and then owned and operated Bixby Flower Basket in Bixby, OK. Joyce then worked at Tulsa Technology Center and retired in 1998. She was a faithful member of Clarksville Free Will Baptist Church in Porter, OK. Joyce was very talented and enjoyed playing the bass guitar and singing with her family. Her biggest love in her life was her family and she loved spending time with them. Joyce was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Billy Ray Benson, her parents, Collins Albert "Slim" and Bertha Williams, 1 daughter, Debra Kay Benson, 1 brother, Kenneth Baker Williams and 9 brothers and sisters-in-law, Tommy Gibson, Dorothy Biggers, Estele McConnell, Ralph Gibson, R.L. Gibson, Billie Miller, Wilma Hickman, Don Gibson and Jane O'Steen. Joyce is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jack Gibson of the home in Coweta, OK; 5 children, Pam Hodge and husband, Mike of Park Hill, OK, Sandy Benson of Park Hill, OK, Chris Benson of Broken Arrow, OK, Lynn Gibson and wife, Vicki of Coweta, OK and Becky Ledbetter and husband, Chuck of Checotah, OK; 1 brother, Jimmie Dale Williams and wife, Judy of Bartlesville, OK; 1 sister, Emma Mae Williams of Okmulgee, OK; 10 grandchildren, Michael and Ting Hamrick, Selena and Travis Byrd, Jaime Holdcroft, Joshua and Chrissy Murphy, Shannon and Greg Pierce, Leah and Darci Murphy, Kara and Justin Focht, Angela Williams, Shelby and Jacob Stanley and Kaleb Benson; 21 great grandchildren and 2 on the way; 3 sisters-in-law, Ruth Whorton and husband, Les, Rosie Gibson and Thelma Gibson; 1 brother-in-law, Mark Gibson and wife, Margaret; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a wonderful church family. Viewing will be from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family present from 4-6 p.m. Services celebrating Joyce's life will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Clarksville Free Will Baptist Church in Porter, OK with Pastor Charlie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Okmulgee Cemetery in Okmulgee, OK. Pallbearers are Josh Murphy, John McMorrow, Kaleb Benson, Brent Meadows, Don Allen, Jared Smith, Scott Mendenhall, Ronnie Poplin, Floyd Bibb and Tommy Gibson. Honorary Pallbearers are Tom Rose, Jimmy Price, Ronnie Gibson, Little Johnnie Parks, Willie Brown, Leon Dotson and Greg Meadows.
