Gerald Overall

Gerald Joe Overall of Ponca City, OK departed this life on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Saint Simeon's Episcopal Home in Tulsa, OK at the age of 90 years, 8 months, & 7 days. He was born on May 4, 1918 in Wagoner, OK to John A. and Rachael (Baker) Overall. Gerald was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather to his family. He received his education at Wagoner High School. Gerald and Hazel Mae Howard were united in marriage on June 3, 1939 in Wagoner, OK. On August 11, 1942, Gerald enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on November 7, 1945. He then served in the United States Navy Reserve until 1967. Gerald worked as a geophysicist for Conoco for 38 years until his retirement in 1985. In 2006, he and Hazel moved to Tulsa, OK from Ponca City, OK. Gerald's hobbies included flying planes, treasure hunting, and he enjoyed being a Hamm Radio Operator. Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Mae Overall, his parents, 1 grandson, 1 brother, and 2 sisters. He is survived by 3 sons, Gerald Wayne Overall and his wife, Judy, of Ponca City, OK, George Alva Overall and his wife, Nancy, of Owasso, OK, and John Earl Overall and his wife, Connie, of Sanford, FL; 1 daughter, Wanda Susan Manning and her husband, Tom, of Broken Arrow, OK; 1 sister, Pauline Anderson of Ketchum, OK; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bruce McCarty officiating. Burial will full military honors will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home, Coweta.
