Gerald Ray Gilbert, age 61, of Hennessey, OK went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his home in Hennessey, OK just 3 days before his wife, Dayna. Ray was born on December 26, 1955 in Coweta, OK and is the son of Edgar Elzie and Mina Wanell (Cantrell) Gilbert. He was a 1974 graduate of Coweta High School. He married the love of his life on January 31, 1981 in Broken Arrow, OK. Dayna and Ray owned and operated the sawmill in Coweta for many years and most recently the Sawmill Inn in Hennessey, OK. He enjoyed fishing, playing soccer, watching OU Sooners and he loved attending his children's sporting activities. Ray also enjoyed watching baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. His wife and his children were his life. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Mina Gilbert. Ray is survived by his 2 children, Alissa Towner and husband, William of Sapulpa, OK and Derek Gilbert and wife, Sarah of Hennessey, OK; 2 sisters, Janice Wenzel and husband, Stan of Catoosa, OK and Phyllis Lawson of Coweta, OK; 4 grandchildren, Lenora Stites, Rayna Towner, Liam Towner and Remi Jo Towner; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 PM. Services celebrating Ray & Dayna's lives will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, OK with Rev.
