George Tillery

George Lee Tillery, age 79, of Broken Arrow, OK passed away on Thursday morning, December 31, 2009 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. He was born on September 25, 1930 in Adair County to Charles William and Minnie Corene (Welch) Tillery. George was a loving husband, son, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his family and a great friend to many. In 1957, he graduated from Watts High School in Watts, OK. George served in the United States Air Force from November 29, 1951 to December 27, 1955. He and Sharon Kay Kendrick were united in marriage on May 28, 1960 in Sand Springs, OK. George worked as a computer systems analyst for the Army Corp of Engineers for 30 years until he retired in 1986. In 2000, he and Sharon moved from the Coweta area to the Broken Arrow area. George was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Coweta. He enjoyed watching TV, watching football and basketball, fishing, and he loved being able to spend time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends. George is lovingly survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon of the home; his son, Michael Tillery of Broken Arrow, OK; his two daughters, Lisa Morgan of Broken Arrow, OK and Barbara Foster of Lee's Summit, MO; four brothers, Tearl Tillery and his wife, Anne Jo, of San Angelo, TX, Frank Tillery and his wife, Paula, of Rogers, AR, John Tillery and his wife, Coleen, of Oklahoma City, OK, and James Tillery and his wife, Maxine, of Tulsa, OK; one sister, Helen Pickell of Muskogee, OK; five grandchildren, Amy Morgan, Micah Morgan, Cole Hughes, Hannah Foster, and Jack Foster; three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Morgan, Brock Lawson, and Chaney Helton; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, C.W. Tillery, Jr., and three sisters, Ellen Nichols, Della Wiley, and Corene Rodman. Funeral services for George will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. David Jones officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, OK. Family and friends may view the obituary and send condolences to George's family online @ www.wrightfh.net. Casket Bearers will be John Tillery, Kelly Tillery, David Tillery, Kent Tillery, Brent Tillery, and Richard Tillery. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Micah Morgan and Cole Hughes. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Tillery to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
