Geneva Hurst, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, entered into the Gates of Heaven at her home in Haskell, Oklahoma on Saturday, September 23, 2023, age the age of 89 years. She was born on October 3, 1933, in Coweta, Oklahoma to Emmett Thomas and Ora Mae (Payne) Richey.

Geneva attended early education at Eufaula Indian Boarding School. Followed by Coweta Public Schools for her junior and high school years. She was a teaching assistant at Coweta Public Schools for 22 years. Her dedication to education and her love for children were evident in her work, and she left a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.

Known for her generous spirit, Geneva had a passion for helping others. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. Her love for nature was evident in her fondness for watching and feeding birds. Geneva was also a devout member of the Bethel Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was a Sunday School teacher and led bible studies for many years.

Geneva's life was a testament to her strong faith, her love for her family, and her commitment to her community. She married her beloved husband, Bob G. Hurst, on May 16, 1953, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their love story of 61 years was one of devotion and companionship, and they built a beautiful family together.

Geneva is survived by her daughters, Debbie Jackson and husband Steve, of Coweta, OK, Donna Young of Haskell, OK, and Tracy Swarer and husband Jimmy, of Broken Arrow, OK; 7 grandchildren, Devin Hurst, Justin Sherry, Dillon Sherry, Carrie Gray and husband Josh, Lindsey Barnett and husband Wes, Josh Swarer and wife Karen, and Jacob Swarer; 4 great grandchildren, Kasen Gray, Ella Barnett, Olivia Barnett, Maddox David; her bonus grandchildren, Brittany Rogers, Haley McElroy, Sean Moyniham, and Yolanda Miller; her bonus great grandchildren, Haley Quigg, Icley Havener, Maeley Havener, and Elaina Coronado; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Bob G. Hurst, her father, Emmett Thomas, her mother, Ora Mae (Payne) Richey, her daughter, Cheryl Sherry, her sons, Steve Hurst and Matt Hurst, her grandson, Bobby Hurst, her sisters, Jewel Harris and Barbara Conley, and her brother, Raymond Thomas.

Visitation for Geneva will be held from 12:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK, with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A service celebrating Geneva's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Bethel Church in Broken Arrow, OK, with Pastor Phil Rogers officiating. Geneva will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
