Gene Larry Wright

Gene Larry Wright, age 79, of Coweta, OK passed away Friday evening, May 30, 2014 at his home in Coweta, OK. He was born on January 29, 1935 in Sikeston, MO the son of Bland M. and Barbara (Radcliffe) Wright. Gene was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He worked as Regional Sales/Service Manager for Nissan Corporation for many years until his retirement. In the 1960's and 1970's, he worked for Chrysler and Toyota. Gene and Ellen (Nelson) Durfey-Warren were married on April 21, 2007. He was a member of Saint Stephen's United Methodist Church, Broken Arrow, OK and he was a member of the Coweta Masonic Lodge #251. He enjoyed restoring British sports cars, artistry painting, traveling, reading and Indian bead work. Gene is survived by his wife, Ellen Wright of the home in Coweta, OK; Daughters, Carrie Wright-Jaeger and husband Dr. Jason Jaeger and Theresa Wright-Hayes; Son, Richard Wright; four step-children, Terry Horne and wife Frankie, Nelson Durfey and wife Tricia, Amy Durfey and fiance' Steve Tines and Karlene Durfey-Collins and husband Tim; 1 sister, Ann; 20 grandchildren, Aden, Sebastian, Jaclyn, Abigail, Jason, Nadine, Baxter, Garret, Jared, Ashlee, Tricia, Tina, Douglas, Danielle, Jean, Lance, Natasha, Chrissy, Amy and Shannon; 1 great grandson, Isiah; and many other relatives. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and one step-son, Kendall Durfey. The family will be holding a private service at a later date.
