Gary Lee Scott

Gary Lee Scott, age 84, of Coweta went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning, August 24, 2015 at The Village Health Care Center in Broken Arrow, OK. Gary was born on April 19, 1931 in China Grove, NC to James B. and Martha (Osborne) Scott. He attended Oklahoma State University where he received his Master's Degree. Gary was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served in the Army as Chief Warrant Officer for 20 years until he retired in 1968. After retiring from the Army, he began teaching and coaching at Chattanooga Public Schools in Chattanooga, OK and Porter Public Schools in Porter, OK. Gary and Bonnie Jean (Ockerman) Scott were united in marriage on November 10, 1951 in Ft. Sill, OK and they were married for nearly 61 years when she preceded him in death on October 8, 2012. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Coweta, OK. Gary enjoyed golfing, hunting, bowling, square dancing with Bonnie and he was an avid reader. Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Jean Scott and his parents, James B. and Martha Scott. Gary is survived by 1 daughter, Jacqueline Scott of Tulsa, OK; 1 son, Robert Scott and wife, Tricia, of Coweta, OK; 1 grandson, Joshua Scott of Atlanta, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the funeral home. Funeral services celebrating Gary's life will be at 2 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Allan Swinson officiating.
