Gary Leo Ervin, age 80, resident of Coweta was born on December 22, 1939 in Marywood, California and was the son of Alvie S. and Addie (Knick) Ervin. He passed away on Saturday evening, August 22, 2020 at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Gary was raised in Sand Springs, Oklahoma and graduated from Sand Springs High School Class of 1957. He married the love of his life, Sherry (Reese) Ervin on June 7, 1971 in Miami, Oklahoma. Gary was a member of Church on the Move in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He owned and operated Jiffy Auto Sales from 1986 to 1997 and owned Ervin Food Market for twenty years. Gary was also a greeter and a cashier at Wal-Mart for eight years. Gary was a wonderful husband, dad, and papa who enjoyed his grandkids and spending time with his family.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sherry Lynn Ervin of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; four children, Tamara Sue Ervin of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Charles Allen Ervin of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Traci Lynn Clemishire and husband Chris of Hominy, Oklahoma, and Lia Sue Graham and husband Kelly of Coweta, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Charles Austin Ervin of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Joshua Allen Ervin and wife Kendall of Baltimore, Maryland, Gary David Ervin of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, William Cobey Clemishire and wife Kyndle of Corpus Christi, Texas, Casey Lynn Stallard and husband Cy of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Cloey Gaile Clemishire of Hominy, Oklahoma, Brandon James Graham and wife Baylee of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Alisha Brooke Wenaas and husband Jake of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, and Kent Kelly Graham of Coweta, Oklahoma; seven great grandchildren, Hunter Jacob Wenaas of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Lily Ann Marie Martin of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Zoey Jane Martin of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Sage Brooke Wenaas of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Waylon Michael Wenaas of Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Blaire Maire Graham of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Cortlyn Lue Stallard of Cleveland, Oklahoma, and two great grandchildren on the way; his mother, Lucille Ervin of Vinita, Oklahoma; one brother, Allen Ervin and wife Brenda of Owasso, Oklahoma; two sisters, Janice Ferguson and husband Pat of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Penny Montgomery and husband Jeff of Mena, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and Addie Ervin and one sister, Janie.
A memorial service celebrating Gary’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with John Robertson officiating and Dr. Vern Charette assisting.
