Francis Martin "F.M." Smith

Graveside services celebrating the life of Francis Martin "F.M." Smith will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Wellston Cemetery in Wellston, OK with Pastor Donna Morton officiating. Viewing will be from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Brown Family Funeral Home. Francis Martin "F.M." Smith, age 78, resident of Broken Arrow went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday morning, December 8, 2018 at his home in Broken Arrow, OK surrounded by his family. F.M. was born on April 10, 1940 in Agra, OK and was the son of Roy and Leola (Miller) Smith. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. F.M. enlisted in the Army on February 1, 1961 and was honorably discharged on April 8, 1964. He married the love of his life, Janice LaVern (Duncan) Smith on September 17, 1965 in Chandler, OK. F.M. worked at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation as a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years until he retired in 1985. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family. F.M. is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice Smith of the home in Broken Arrow, OK; one son, Rick Smith and wife, Amber of Haskell, OK; four sisters, Pat Hopkins of Perkins, OK, Linda Jones and husband, John of Oklahoma City, OK, Carol Disney of Ripley, OK and Sue Leader and husband, Rick of Cushing, OK; three grandchildren, Montana Smith, Fancy Smith and Gavin English; five great grandchildren, Newt Smith, Gus Smith, Raylan Smith, Roper Smith and Willow Campbell; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. F.M. was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Leola Smith and one sister, Sharon Mays. Family and friends may share memories online at www.brownfamilycares.com.
