Francis "Loran" Claxton, age 85, lifelong Coweta resident passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 6, 2014 at the Claremore Veterans Center in Claremore, OK. Loran was born on March 28, 1929 in Coweta, OK to Bert and Maud (Floyd) Claxton. He was a Coweta High School graduate. Loran was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He enlisted in the Army on April 28, 1952 and was honorably discharged on April 7, 1954. Loran worked at Wagoner County as a Road Supervisor for over 10 years until he retired. He was named Coweta Citizen of the Year in the mid-90's. He enjoyed doing church work and being around people. Loran was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. Loran is survived by his daughter, Terrye Robins & husband, Dan, of Chelsea, OK; 2 grandchildren, Christopher Robins & wife, Christy and Jeremy Robins & wife, Becky; 2 great granddaughters, Ryan & Jordan; and other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 12 PM - 6 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2014 and 12 PM - 6 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating the life of Loran will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Clive Jared officiating. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Christopher Robins, Jeremy Robins, Donald Branscum, David Clawson, Doug Inbody and Dwight Claxton. In lieu of flowers, please consider continuing Loran's spirit of giving by donating in his memory to The Grace Center (Coweta's food pantry), 107 S. Broadway, Coweta, OK 74429.
