Federico Campos Rey passed away on Friday, August 30th, 2024, in Tulsa, OK at St. Francis South Hospital. Originally from Buenos Aires, Mexico, as a young boy he immigrated to the United States to Hobbs, NM where he met his wife Mercedes Rey followed by 43 years of dedication, love, sacrifice, and family. In 1999 he moved with his wife and daughter from North Carolina to Coweta, OK and purchased a small house and plot of land that would come to be known to his friends and family as El Rancho.
Professionally he made his life as an industrial contractor giving him the ability to live and see a large portion of the United States. Along with his family he lived and worked throughout the United States from New Mexico to Maine, including Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina before finding his final resting place in Coweta, OK. Away from work he was a son from a farming and ranching family. A man of simplicity, he loved to connect with the land through gardening, fishing, riding horses and singing his favorite love songs into a campfire for his wife to hear. He was a man with a hard scowl, and a warm smile. He was a man with rough hands and a soft heart.
He is survived by his 2 children, the eldest son Aldo Federico Rey, and his daughter Adriana Federica Rey. Additionally, continuing his legacy his 4 grandchildren Samuel Cruz Stratton, Adrian John Stratton, Esa Merdith Rey, and Lachlan Dia Rey.
Federico will be remembered as a husband who loved his wife, helped strangers, and shared his home with all who joined him in a meal filled with laughter and good times. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 6th, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home, 210 S. Broadway, Coweta, OK, followed by a remembrance meal at the family home (El Rancho) after at 14859 S. 209th E. Ave., Coweta OK.
