Evelyn "Kay" McGahey-Whomble, a cherished mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at her home in Broken Arrow, OK, on Sunday morning, January 7, 2024. She was born on March 21, 1941, in Liberty, OK to Wilton William and Clara Leslie (Bandy) Dixon.

Kay’s early years were spent in Liberty, OK, where she attended Liberty School and furthered her education at Tulsa Junior College. Her academic achievements paved the way for a successful career at Citgo Petroleum Corporation, where she served as an accountant for 33 years until her well-deserved retirement. Her professional life was marked by diligence and a strong work ethic, which earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

Kay was married and started her family with the late Michael Stanley Trussell on July 13, 1959, until his death on February 24, 1974. Later she married J. Miller McGahey on June 6, 1979, and was able to share nearly 10 years with him until his death on May 4, 1989.  On May 28, 2015, Kay found love again and was married to, Jackie "Jack" Ray Whomble, at Liberty Baptist Church in Morris, OK. Their union was a beautiful chapter in her life, filled with joy and companionship. Kay's devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her existence.

Kay is survived by her loving daughters, Patricia Ann Few, and husband Jerry of Coweta, OK, and Pamela Sue Copeland and husband Marc of Locust Grove, OK; her son, Michael Tony Trussell and wife Kathleen of Tonkawa, OK; her cherished grandchildren, Caitlin Diskey and husband Derrick, Heather Huddleston and husband Cody, David Upman, and Jessica Copeland; and her adored great-grandchildren. Kay also leaves behind her brother, J.C. Dixon and wife Mary of Okmulgee, OK; her sister, Edna M. Edwards of McAlester, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Jackie Ray Whomble, J. Miller McGahey, Michael Stanley Trussell, her parents, Wilton William and Clara Leslie Dixon, and her siblings, Pauline Miller, Nadine Dill, Ruby Ledford, Doyle Dixon, Junior Dixon, June Delaughter, and James Dixon.

A woman of faith, Kay was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. Her commitment to her church and her love for attending services were integral parts of her life. Kay's interests extended beyond her professional and spiritual life; she relished the time spent with her family and embraced every moment with them.

Visitation for Kay will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK. A service celebrating Kay's life will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church in Morris, OK, with Pastor Jeff Ward officiating. Kay will be laid to rest at Liberty Cemetery in Morris, OK.
