Evelyn B. Sloat of Coweta, age 84, a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital South in Tulsa, OK. She was born on May 30, 1927 in Enterprise, OK and was the daughter of Martin Luther and Rosa Etta (Burge) Turnbow. Evelyn was a long-time resident of the Coweta area and she received her education in Coweta Public Schools. Evelyn and Ezra Paul "Buddy" Sloat were united marriage on September 10, 1945 in Independence, KS and he later preceded her in death. She worked at Otasco Warehouse in Tulsa, OK for around 15 years. Evelyn was also a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coweta. Evelyn enjoyed quilting, reading and she loved watching her grandchildren play sports. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones and friends. Evelyn is lovingly survived by her two daughters, Karen Le of Coweta and Kathy Krueger and husband, Chip, of Coweta; one son, Bill Sloat and wife, Debbie, of Enid, OK; two sisters, Thelma Greene and husband, Ed, of Coweta and Pauline Hogan of Leonard, OK; one brother, Ulysses Turnbow and wife, Bernadine, of Coweta; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Luther and Rosa Etta Turnbow, her husband, Ezra Paul "Buddy" Sloat, three sons, Bruce Arnold, Donald Paul and Brian Ronald, one sister, Aliene Jones and one brother, Otis Turnbow. Funeral services for Evelyn will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, OK with Rev. David Jones officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Adam Lee Sloat, David Sloat, Travis Gene Sloat, Brad Martin Sloat, Jordan Paul Sloat and Josh Logan Sloat.
